Lucy forgot to read the manual

Well, I think I can safely say Lucy's pups will arrive later today or tomorrow. She just forgot to read the manual on "normal signs of whelping" - or, just like everything else about her, she is one unique dog.

Her temperature is back to almost normal, she isn't restless, and she isn't nesting. However, she has seperated herself from the rest of us (in my bedroom, on my new carpet.....ahem, Lucy, it's not gonna happen there!), and refused treats and breakfast. She's gone outside to poop four times since 2:30 this morning and is now just passing a bit of diarrhea. Pups are active, getting ready for the big event.

My bedroom is the quietest room in the house, but was NOT an option for the whelping area (not enough room for x-pen, new carpet, and I'm a very light sleeper!), so I've strung sheets all around the x-pen and lowered the blinds in the mudroom and will shortly take her into the prepared area. I don't expect any action for a while yet, but do think it will be tonight or tomorrow.

Keep paws and fingers crossed that all goes well.

Best wishes for a safe, uneventful and hopefully quick whelping to you and Lucy.

Can't wait to hear of her progress...
