Guess what WE did today??????

Piglet in the pasture

We wents into the BIG pasture! The one the big white cweature named Martin lives in! Our Foster Mama opened the gate from our new pig yard to the pasture and said “C’mon!!!!” We didn’ts even know there WAS a gate from the piggy yard directly to the pasture. This is a vewy exciting discovewy!

We was scared at first. We didn’t know if the big wide world was safe for little piggies. But oooohhhhhhh that grass looked sooooo good and sooooo green and sooooo tasty! And the big white cweature was waaaaaaaay up the hill, and Foster Mama had placed a wheel barrow and a doggy exercise pen across the place where the path cwosses the cweek so we wouldn’t wander off too far and Martin wouldn’t come down and get in our way.

So pwetty soon, Tom an’ Rob Roy an’ me (I’m Whisper) came down and cautiously trotted out the gate into the big, big field called a p a s t u r e. Ohhhhh, it was soooo big!!! We ran along the fence and right into Martin’s empty pen!!!! It was safe in there and there was grains and hay and young stinging nettles to eat. Foster Mama said we were silly pigs, though, because we have all those things in our own yard and if we went back out into the BIG part of the pasture we would find lots of tender grass and other yummy sweet green leaves.

"Yum! Alpaca food!"

Soon my brothers and sister joined me – well, most of them, though two of them stayed behind near the barn door wiv Mama Soda and Papa Scotch and just con-tem-plate-ted (that’s a BIG word for a little piggy) what to do.

Contemplating a new situation

‘Ventually, all of us were out in the big field or in Martin’s pen ‘cept Mama Soda and Papa Scotch. Papa went back in the barn to take a nap, and Mama made a nice dirt hole and lay down for a snooze outside the barn door. Foster Mama said they were pwobably ex-haust-ed from lookin’ after all us piglets and were just glad to have some quiet time! Tee hee.

Fizz and Toddy were VEWY brave…they went all the way down to the creek to check out the barrier Foster Mama had built. That is a long way….Foster Mama said it is ‘bout two ACRES away. But they came back when she told them to.

Foster Mama went up to the barn and told our Papa to come outside. She bribed him with a tasty apple and he got up. When he finally joined us, he was ec-stat-ic!!! He did his very own, very personal, very unique happy dance! Foster Mama took a video but I don'tz know how to load it onto the blog so you'll hafta wait to see that.
He is a very funny Papa!

Next Foster Mama went back to talk to Mama Soda. She told Mama Soda to get out there. Mama Soda swore at her…tee hee…..that is naughty! Mama Soda does not like to be told what to do. But even Mama Soda did get up and came out into the pasture with us, and we think she had fun too even though she doesn’t do a happy dance like Papa does. Our Foster Mama was laughing so hard she had water coming from her eyes, 'cuz Mama Soda could see us in the yummy grass but couldn't figure out how we gots there!

"Hey, how'd they get over THERE????"

We hads lots and lots of fun out there today. We ate an’ we rooted an’ we raced about an’ we oinked an’ we grunted an’ we squealed an’ we ate some more.

"There's good rootin' here!"

We kept running up to Foster Mama to tell her how much fun we was having. Some of us even put our front trotters up on her leg and wiggled our snouties at her and said “oof oof” which is piggy for “thank you Foster Mama this is very special!” (though I think Swizzle was just doin’ it cuz he thought the camera in her hand was a COOKIE! He’s so silly!). Foster Mama took anuver video, but you can't see it just yet either.

After an hour or two, Foster Mama said it was time to go in, and she got a bowl of apple pieces an’ we all followed her back to the barn like the good little piggies we are. She says she feels like the Pied Piper when we does this. Ha ha, silly Foster Mama, the Pied Piper led children away from home, not piggies to their home.

And now we know where the gate is and how good the grass is on the other side of the fence, we smart little piggies might have to figure out a way to get back out there all by ourselves. In fact, when Foster Mama took the dogs for a run in the pasture tonight, three of us RACED out of the barn and down to the gate, squealing “Foster mama, we wanna come too! Pleeeaaase!!”. But she tolds us to go back to bed. She said somethin’ about she’s created a bunch of monsters. We not monsters, we just very, very happy piggies who discovered a whole new playground today! Wheeeee!

"Thanks, Foster Mama!"

Sincerely,
Whisper

Hi Jean,
What a great story told by Whisper.
I bet you were having a great time just watching them enjoy themselves. What lucky piggies they are to have you as their foster Mama.
Hope the sun shines today or you will have to resort to cleaning their barn with all the piggies underfoot.
