What an great day!

It was only about five or six weeks ago that Jenn W introduced me to her mom, Marie,  and said "Mom's going to have a garage sale to raise some money for Hearts on Noses."  I thanked her and asked her to let me know when and where, and I would help out.  I mentioned I would have a few things to donate, and could also bring my portable Hearts on Noses information booth to tell buyers about the piggies.

And what a garage sale it was!  In just five hours, one woman, her daughter, and two of her young grandchildren raked in over $600 to help support the only mini pig sanctuary in Western Canada.

It was the perfect day - sunny and warm with a light breeze to keep us comfy.  It was a perfect setting - Jenn's mom's passion is gardening and it shows - absolutely stunning gardens, packed  full of colour and texture and scent (and nary a weed in sight - how does she DO that?)!  And it was the perfect pace - a steady stream of buyers who neither overwhelmed us nor left us twiddling our thumbs.  Though who could feel overwhelmed or bored in a setting like this:

And while there were no live piggies running around rototilling the garden, I thought these little guys in the garden would bring a smile to piggy-lovers' faces:

I know the work that goes into a garage sale - so I appreciate that the money wasn't raised in just five hours of selling but over several weeks of gathering and sorting and cleaning and pricing and storing before one can even put it out on display, sell it, and pack up the leftovers.

It shows what one family can do, how just one family can make a difference in the lives of 39 pigs.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Marie, Jenn, Georgia and Lundyn. The piggies raise their snouties to honor you today.

Wow -what terrific people! The pig sanctuary must be very pleased.
Your pictures are getting better and better in composition Jean , and I am impressed with what your camera can achieve - with help from its owner of course. Why do all these interesting things in picturesque places happen when I'm not there? I would go wild in that garden with my camera and wild at the yard sale with my pennies. Hmm - maybe that is why I'm still here.
