A wee little brag

It's official!  Another of my short stories is going to press. The Year the Animals Brought Christmas will be included in a book entitled "O Canada, The Wonders of Winter", being published by Chicken Soup for the Soul. Release date is November 5th. It is a true story based on an experience I had living on my little farm in the Fraser Valley with four dogs, a cat, twelve pigs and an alpaca.  While parts of the story originally appeared on this blog, this will be the first time it has been published in its entirety.

In addition to getting paid for the story, I will be getting ten complementary copies of the book.  While I have plans for some of them, I just may have to think up a contest for blog readers to win a copy.  Ideas anyone?

Eddie:  Ah has an idea!  Everyone sends me a cookie and
the best cookie-baker wins a book!
I'll even offer to be the judge!

Me:  Eddie, you would NOT make a good judge.
You inhale cookies without even tasting them!

Congratulations, Jean. It doesn't surprise me that you will have your story published. You communicate incredibly well with the words and pictures on your blog. I check every day to see if you have left us a new gem to read! Thank you and, again, congratulations.

Congrats! You getting published is awesome! Is this when we all say "we knew her before she was famous"
I have a funny feeling your story will be read by a lot of people!

I do have a contest idea: how about the funniest Canadian winter story we come up with? I bet we all have experiences and it would be cool for you to read them and decide which is best!
The participants can either write them in the comment section so we can all read them or you can share the winning one.
Just thinking out loud. lol

Congratulations.
You do some very nice/good writing and so should be published.
When did you foster the pigs who are at Hearts and noses?
I'd love to read about that experience and forward to a freind ..... who lives in Mission.

Caroline, thanks for the idea. I'd have to put a word limit on it as I have enough trouble finding time to read all my favourite blogs these days (I should NEVER have joined facebook - such a time-sucker!). I'll think on this and announce the contest when the books arrive, which will likely be October.
Wendy, the adult pigs came to me in June 2007 and the piglets were born a few weeks later. So their stories begin at the beginning of this blog - just click to January 2008 and start reading!). The pigs moved to the sanctuary in spring 2009 (April or May, I think) - so you have almost a year's worth of piggy stories to catch up on! :)
