Rajah, Eddie's new friend |
After a lengthy search, my friends Margaret and Peter, whose lovely old dog Sam passed away at my home in June 2011, have found the right companion to share their home.
Margaret, Peter and Rajah (used with permission) |
Rajah arrived at their home October 7th for a two week trial period, which he passed with flying colours. Eddie and I went for a walk with him around Chemainus Lake about a week ago, in the pouring rain. Today, we had a more pleasant walk at Echo Heights, on a cool but dry fall day.
Rajah on the trail |
He has lovely dog-social skills, and walks beautifully on leash unless he scents a deer or spies a cat - he is apparently quite prey driven and believes cats are evil.
Allie: He thinks cats are evil? What ever would give him THAT idea? |
But Eddie is quite content to spend time with him, so we anticipate many hours of enjoyable walks and hikes together.

Welcome to the island, Rajah. You are one very fortunate and already well-loved dog.
Congratulations, Margaret and Peter, on the latest addition to your family.

Awww...sweet. A collie was one of my childhood fantasy dogs, no doubt because of Lassie. How come Rajah was outdoors or in boarding kennels so much?
Awesome picture of Allie! A lady with cattitude!
Yes, a lady with catitude.
I have a thought that the Allie scratch on my hand ...with the blood ...would have been a cool pic.
(befitting for halloween too)

I, too, love good-news stories about happy match-ups through reputable rescues. It seems you lucked out, Rajah although I'm betting Margaret and Peter figure they were the winners in this deal. I know you will have many wonderful walks with Jean and Eddie. As for Allie, I'm showing that picture to Black Jack. I'm thinking it should earn a little respect, don't you?
He's very handsome with his one rakishly tipped ear. My Riley can't wait to meet him! Welcome to your new home, Rajah.

Love all your stories about Eddie and your trip...funny about crossing the bridge in Abbotsford..silly pup. Rajah's story warms my heart. It is nice to know there are people like Margaret and Peter out there. BJ's Carol is right, they are all winners in this case.
