Okay, okay, I know it's been over a week!

Sometimes when you just know you will EXPLODE if you start blogging, it is best to remain silent.  No, the renos are not finished.  I'm not going to tell you about the unstackable stacking washer/dryer, the two hours at the library reading up on BC's building code in order to prove that the installers didn't need to cut the fancy chimney off the fancy range hood, the flooded kitchen from the dishwasher, the reversed hookup on the washer, the MIA roofer who is needed not needed needed to do the vents, or any of the rest of this "I'm gonna run away and be a hermit"  exercise in frustration.

So, we'll continue with diversionary tactics.

Yesterday, Eddie, Margaret and I took a lovely walk in Echo Heights, a forested area in nearby Chemainus. Echo Heights has been the subject of a great deal of controversy between developers, the municipal government, and the local citizens.  I've been hearing about it ever since I moved here, but had not hiked in the 52 acre forest myself.  Margaret, familiar with its trails, suggested we go together.

It is beautiful.  Follow me!

Here's the trail!

What a perfect day for a walk in the woods!

The ferns are lush and verdant.

Look, here's a trillium seed pod!

Awww, what a wonderful idea!

The swamp - eerily beautiful.

Almost surreal.

A bear tree?  Looks like it is almost ready to topple!

Birds were singing everywhere.

Indian Pipe - one of the few plants without chlorophyll

Feathers on a decaying log

Happy, happy Eddie!

Thanks for joining us - let's go back again soon!

Very good tactic. Looks like the sort of place you could lose yourself in for hours. That Indian Pipe is interesting. I've never seen anything like it, looks translucent. I also love the pee post. Every park should have an official one LOL.

Your kitchen sounds a mess.

Oh dear! I'm glad you were able to "divert" to a tranquil location for a couple of hours. Wonderful to see the lush forest and the sheer delight in Eddie's face. I recommend more of the same until all this stressful reno stuff is a distant memory.

It is so hard with renos to ensure everything is going to be o-kay but sounds like you are having more then your fair share of S--t..we are so lucky to have our contractor live next door to us so..he is always at hand..and good! I hope things get better...glad you enjoyed your lovely stroll...Cheryl

Every time I have finished a reno while living in the house (several), I swear that I won't do it again. My experience in Cobble Hill was much more pleasant than yours when it came to the workers themselves, but there were still all the things that had to go back, didn't fit, ran out of materials, etc.

When it is over, you will most likely feel that it was worth it. But during the process it can be awful!

Enjoy the outside until you can again enjoy the peace and quiet inside with a lovely, modern kitchen.

Lovely picture of a lovely walk.
I haven't been there in years and I must take a walk there soon. Do you and Eddie want to join Tanner and I?

What a beautiful walk! That "bear tree" looks scary, like it will fall over soon.

Glad you are getting out and away from the frustration of home renovations.

Looks like Eddie is loving his life :-)

Great pics Jean, love the pee post but I bet most dogs use the trees. Eddie looks happy out on his walk. That indian pipe plant looks weird it looks like a ghostly plant apparition lol.

(psst don't mention the renos)

As usual, Beautiful diversionary photos. Your photo walks always put me in awe of what you see every day.

errrrm... remember a few posts back I said, "Because you deserve it" I SO take that back! You totally DO NOT deserve the hassles you're going through with this ((reno)) There Mark, I mentioned it! Now get back to finishing that counter top!
