Charley is at the animal hospital in Chemainus. She became ill after a hike on Sunday, and despite fasting her, is still ill. This morning she started vomiting blood and passing black tarry loose stools - signs of internal bleeding.
They are going to squeeze her in between patients. So for now I am waiting, waiting, waiting.
Please keep all fingers and paws crossed for my girl.
My prayers are with Charlie
ReplyDeleteI hope she is ok and it is something easy to treat. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh my...all fingers and paws tightly crossed.
ReplyDeletePrayers for Charlie
ReplyDeleteSending miracle whippet powers of healing for Charlie and comfort for you.
ReplyDeleteNot much is worse than that worry.
Oh, no!
ReplyDeleteI'm sending healing thoughts to Charley and lots of strength your way.
hoping the best for Charlie
ReplyDeleteWell, we don't have a diagnosis - temperature is at the high end of normal (to be expected with the hot weather and her thick coat), belly seems soft, no particular tenderness. And, of course, she wasn't sick and didn't have the runs while she was there.
ReplyDeleteTen minutes after arriving home she puked bloody slime all over the new bedroom carpet.
With the stat holiday tomorrow (Canada Day) the clinic is closed, so the vet sent her home with directions to continue fasting her and with a tube of Diarsanyl (looks like doggy poop and is twice as messy - got more on my hands, the floor, and Charley's fur than in her mouth) and some antibiotics.
If she gets worse, it's off to the emergency vet; if she stays the same, I'll take her in for more invasive testing on Thursday.
To make matters worse, Ellen just called. Kinley (one of the whippet boyz who was staying with us Thursday to Monday) has just come down with kennel cough, which is highly contagious.
Please, please, please don't let my dogs come down with it!! Two weeks of violent coughing would be extremely tough on at least three of my four seniors.
And so we just keep waiting.....
Sending many prayers and good thoughts your way. Also some comforting hugs for both you and Charlie.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Jean! I've been out of touch and just saw this post tonight! Sending the very best positive thoughts that Charley will be okay, Kinley will get better quickly, and none of your crew will catch kennel cough. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteKennel cough oh noooooooo and i am so sorry Charley and you are going threw this right now.
ReplyDeletePaws and fingers crossed here for Charlie!
ReplyDeleteCame back to check on Charley's status (sorry for the misspelling earlier). Thanks for the update.
